No, really. Normally, people like some sort of music, whatever that might be, but if someone simply doesn't like any music, then they have a mental "disorder"! That can't be right, surely? According to Wikipedia, it's defined as:

Musical anhedonia is a neurological disorder characterized by an inability to derive pleasure from music.[1] People with this condition, unlike those suffering from music agnosia, can recognize and understand music but fail to enjoy it.[2]

Research has shown that people with this condition have reduced functional connectivity between the cortical regions responsible for processing sound and the subcortical regions related to reward.[3] Musical anhedonia is not associated with brain damage and affects between 3 and 5 percent of the general population.

There's a more general anhedonia that means people can't derive pleasure from anything at all and is usually caused by things like depression. This I can see is a real disorder, but surely not simply from not liking any music?

As you can see from my extensive and growing music collection on here, I certainly don't have this condition. Have a listen and see which ones you like.

Everything that we perceive could be described as information. People process information in very different ways. If it's deviant enough (as in: too different from the norm), some might say that it indeed classifies as a disorder, though I would rather call it a neurodivergence, not unlike how some people with prosopagnosia process faces visually but can’t recognize them emotionally or socially.

I don't even know how to process this, as I assumed most people like some music in some way with music either close to their culture or they like music relatable to their memories. I can see the complexity of someone either liking or not liking music if they are neurodivergent because their perception of stimuli may differ.
