omg that full orange one! ❤️ When I see a cat which acts that affectionate to a stranger and meowing so strongly, I do wonder if they're actually crying out for help in some way. At least they got fed in the end and didn't look like they were in hardship.

Also, notice how the YouTubers went straight to pat the cats on the top of their heads and how they lifted their heads up to try to intercept their hands each time? That's because one should always offer their hand for the cat to sniff it which is what they're trying to do which they do to get to know you. Also, think about it, if someone comes up to you and tries to pat you on the head, it kinda looks a bit threatening, doesn't it? Hence, the correct approach is to offer your hand to be sniffed, give them a moment to do that, when they've finished, progress to stroking their cheeks and / or under the chin, then stroke their heads. This will all only take a few seconds, perhaps 20-40 depending on the exact interaction.

You are right. For this reason I do let the cat sniff a bit first. Got another video, same guy, same petting style. But you gotta love the sounds this kitty produces. Such happy meows! 😻

We really don't know, but it looks to me like the cats knew and recognized the person. Otherwise there is no way a street cat would allow anybody approach it, let alone pet it.
Either the cats were just outdoor cats, therefore used to people, or, if homeless moggies, they knew that person well. In the second video, the cat sitting on the car actually 'called out' to the person approaching it, it looked to me as if there was definitely recognition there.
