@Arizona That drive reminds me of one I saw at a computer museum years ago. It had 10 platters and took about a day to initialise!

I should explain that all they had there was one of the platters which held about 4MB and was a deep reddish rust colour - very magnetic looking. The info panel on it showed a picture of the whole cabinet with the platters in it, along with a short explanation.

Should go to the National Computer Museum at Bletchley Park sometime. They rebuilt Colossus and it’s big enough that you walk through it and around it.
