I was wondering what the longest movie in the world is, thinking perhaps something like a marathon 12 hours or so Roman battle epic maybe, but no, instead I found this classic from 2012. At a mere 857 hours, or 35 days and 17 hours long, it's something that you can go for a quick watch while on your lunch break.
It's a silent documentary film, following the exciting adventures of a pedometer going from its destination back to the factory. In real time. In silence. I can't think of anything more riveting, can you? The IMDB description says "the production cycle of a pedometer in reverse chronological order". And that's it. Hey, I'd love it to be shown at the cinema with a challenge for viewers to watch it all in one sitting and one of them winning a £50000 prize at the end!!
I mean, why the <insert rude word of choice> did they make this?!! Apparently, according to the video description, it was an art project, so that makes a bit more sense, because sometimes artists like doing pointless things like this to make pointless points. I'll bet setting up the cameras and editing it was a nightmare... I'd love a making of video, wouldn't you? Now that really would be interesting.
Check out those user reviews on it and it's even got a surprisingly high 6.5 IMDB rating, too.
Oh and the best part of all? You can watch the whole thing on YouTube. Yup, really. Now, due to length restrictions on YT, it's been broken up into 8 hour sections: that's 107 videos, with the last one being about 4 hours. Oh, and it's all in glorious Full HD too. Good luck getting through all that. Oh and it really is silent.
Any NerdZoner wanna take up the challenge of watching the whole thing in one go without stopping? @AllThingsTech would that be you? @Hitcore surely this must give you inspiration for a music video?

Right, now, if you're too chicken to watch the whole thing, there's this 72 minute abridged version showing all the most exciting plot points for you to zone out to.

Oh boy, this ridiculous movie has to be my favourite post of 2025 so far!
EDIT
Ok, looking at that Wikipedia entry, it turns out that this is only the second longest movie ever made, the longest dwarfing it at 120 days / 2880 hours / 172,800 minutes, called "120 Days of Sodom Literally". That's a totally insane 3.4 times longer than Logistics. Someone must really be a glutton for punishment, lol.
Ironically, this has got the least informative IMDB entry:
