Oh, it's definitely a Disney issue as all the other apps work just fine, BBC iPlayer being especially slick.

Listening really carefully, I thought I could just about tell a difference. Regardless, I don't want lossy audio quality whether I can hear it or not.

Storage space isn't a problem with modern HDDs and I like the fact that I don't have to keep paying the tithe in order to hear my music. It also can't be taken away from me.

Also, there’s a major misconception that analog music sounds better than digital music. Strong disagree - while DSP (essentially boosting bass and treble at lower volumes due to lower audibility) exists on most modern digital audio systems, at full volume it should sound full and accurate and, audio systems have come a long way in other ways, too.

I feel like this incorrect perception also exists due to very low quality streaming services that are offered e.g. even 320kbps on Spotify can’t compare with Tidal audio quality imo. What most ppl are oblivious to is the availability of lossless audio formats. Also in the analogue days, we didn’t have Dolby Atmos, so we couldn’t play surround sound as far as I’m concerned, could we?

Dang Retro, we just had to cross-post again, didn’t we? :P

I felt the same way when first starting and nowadays the difference is much more noticeable - listening to TIDAL constantly and then occasionally streaming Spotify with friends. However this isn’t a fair comparison either, given that I use a soundbar whereas my friends were using portable speakers!

What’s more, there’s the possibility of that placebo effect - you expect to hear a difference and so your brain exaggerates on how prominent these differences are, or even tricks you into believing there’s an audible difference where there truly isn’t!

In addition, what you may perceive as a quality difference may simply be different masters.

Do you play your music via wired, bluetooth or airplay?

TIDAL, just like Spotify have Spotify Connect, have a protocol called TIDAL connect which most hi-fi systems nowadays support. While Airplay has more bandwidth than Bluetooth, connect protocols enable streaming at full quality, given that compared to Airplay and Bluetooth which stream from your device to the sound device, these connect protocols effectively work with your device serving as a remote control, and the streams delivered directly from the internet to the audio device!

I value the wireless approach and especially fhe ability for full quality 👌
