That's what Microsoft would like you to think to have everyone taking up their free upgrade to Windows 11, but it will be nothing of the sort. It will just be a gentle slide into oblivion over several years, so no need to panic. The increasing security issues won't suddenly become a critical nightmare, either. There will literally be no difference as that support date passes, but will gradually increase a bit. This is good news for those who have W11 incompatible PCs and can't or won't upgrade them right now.
My recommendation is to upgrade to Windows 11 soon after W10 EOL though if you really don't want it now to avoid general headaches with an increasingly unsupported operating system. For example, I've seen WhatsApp act buggy on an older iPhone iOS version once that model can't have the latest one, while working properly on the latest iOS. No one needs headaches like that.
End of support is 14 October 2025 and Leo Notenboom explains all this in his usual relaxed and easy to understand style.
