Ian Huntley, the Soham killer, has died after being attacked in prison.
Huntley, 52, was airlifted to hospital after he was ambushed with a spiked metal pole at HMP Frankland, Co Durham, on Feb 26.
He was serving a life sentence for murdering two 10-year-old girls – Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman – at his home in Soham, the Cambridgeshire market town, in 2002.
The Ministry of Justice confirmed that he died on Saturday morning.
A spokesman added: “The murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman remains one of the most shocking and devastating cases in our nation’s history, and our thoughts are with their families.”
It's great to see this psychopath get his comeuppance after what he did to those little girls. Unsurprisingly for this country, he didn't get a whole life order for his crimes, ie dies in jail, but a 40 year minimum sentence, which isn't enough in my opinion. Now he's had the death sentence brutally meted out via another prisoner, which he fully deserved. This is similar to how he brutalised and murdered those girls whom he showed no mercy, so is richly deserved.
He died blinded and in severe pain, too. That inmate who attacked him, Anthony Russell, 43, should be congratulated for it, but alas he's gonna be severely punished instead. Mind you, he's no angel either as he's a triple killer and should also die in jail. I wonder what his motivation was to kill Huntley. We're unlikely to ever know unfortunately.
