Hangonaminute, I'm all for criticising Trump when he does something bad, which is a lot, but how come he approved support on 5th April, yet an article that came out on the 25th said he didn't?

Note that the approval was announced on the Arkansas official website too, so one can't say it's a lie.

This is the original HuffPost article, not the Yahoo republish from the next day where you can see that it's not been altered.

Nice correction there, @Geffers. I don't like misinformation from either side.

Caring, sharing Trump has just said no to disaster relief for Arkansas after tornados did millions in storm damage. It's a red state too and he wants to dismantle FEMA. People are really gonna love that.
Really I don't have a big issue with that. The states should be budgeting themselves for stuff like this, but they tend to want to put their tax monies towards special interest stuff that serves few but keeps their locals happy.
Arkansas damage was estimated at $8.8 MILLION.
The 2024 fires in California did around $250 BILLION in damages and economic loss (and remember Trump this year did not want to help them, rather ordering the dumping of water in a publicity stunt that was needed for crops for this summer since we have drought conditions in that area).
Hurricane Helene (2024) did about $30 BILLION in damage and economic loss.
Hurricane Katrina in 2005 did about $200 BILLION in damages and loss.

Honestly, they should have that easily in surplus in the Arkansas state budget for a "rainy day" fund.
Texas has a law in effect that requires 10% of the previous biennium's general revenue be set aside in the "rainy day" fund. It's forecast to be $28.1 BILLION for 2025. If your state has a tendency to spend all it's income and not set any aside, it's ridiculous to expect the federal government to come bail you out.

I see where you're coming from, but it's a bit of a grey area in my opinion as the devil's in the details.

As it is, Trump did actually authorise support for Arkansas. Did you see my post immediately above yours?

I already knew that he had.... my comment was on the original decision not to. That, to me, was the correct one. The only reason he changed his mind was it's a red state and with his current BS going on it would have been just one more nail in the GOP coffin.
