They can come to America, everyone gets in, no questions asked. No ID... no problem, not vaccinated (any) ...no problem, no money...no problem, need medical attention....no problem.... no borders right now. Yes, I'm not happy about what's happening at our border, because it is a serious problem.
Are they still separating kids from their families and putting them in cages?

Crims, check out this video from A Different Bias.

He does two videos a day like this and it's well worth subscribing.
This seems quite specialised: the company sells non bulk amounts of a food product with the currently flawed system of arbitrary tax. If it was about selling the UK centered company to an EU source, that's more of a long term thing that's debatable. Selling a Cheshire based company which makes cheese to a foreign market has it's pros and cons in both the short and long.

EDIT: in basic english, the government is crap at their job. I guess I always assumed this from our government.

I don't think so, but I can't be sure. The border is a real mess, very unsafe for those migrating and for people that have homes near the border. Very dire consequences for those trying to get in across the heat of the desert and the danger with the Coyotes and gangs. The Texas governor has declared Texas in a state of invasion as of a few weeks ago. The separation of families and cages actually started in the Obama years, also going on in Trump years, and he got hit with that and was forced to do something about it, which was the "stay in Mexico" policy, which Biden reversed and now all are welcome. Neither Biden or Harris have seen the harsh condition for people at the border. Harris went to El Paso, but that doesn't count. We have Alejandro Mayorkas in complete denial of the conditions at the border because of politics. It's the southern border near McAllen and all of those other southern cities that are overwhelmed with people living in the streets, severe crime, rape and murders etc. It's very sad, and crime is not just limited to humans it's also to animals.

America has the same problem. Lots of doctors have retired especially since the Pandemic started. New doctor's aren't as inspired to work under the newer guidelines from the AMA (American Medical Assoc.).

I typically don't like to interrupt though this is a thread about the UK and how Brexit affects healthcare, the cost of living crisis etc. Healthcare wise we have few things in common but generally not a lot of overlap, we usually focus on infrastructure and funding healthcare. At least when not with a corrupt government.

Why has this supposed remainer gone all pro brexit nowadays? I can't believe it's just to ensure he gets the most votes to beat the tories. No, I think this is his ideology. Remember, he was the shadow brexit secretary before becoming leader and never trusted him because of that.

I think it's him being cynical and trying to play both sides of it, such as that's within his powers.

On the one hand, a sizeable proportion of the country did vote to Leave - and no matter how self-harming that act was, they voted for it. Any government whose plan isn't solely about profiteering will have to have at least thoughts of how to unify the country and heal the divisions. That starts with not shouting down those who wanted to leave because at least *some* of them had reasons they felt strongly enough to vote leave for. So there's that, he's got to be playing for trying to bring some of them round - and noting that some of the staunch Tories will vote that way.

On the other... he must also realise that taking this hard a line will alienate his own core voter base. You can certainly see the 'Red Tory' comments having a ring of truth to them, that he's really one of them, not one of the Labour's own.

Someone had to be shadow Brexit secretary - that's how the shadow government works: every member of government (as opposed to parliament) gets an equivalent minister from the opposition. And in that regard, I think Starmer was the right candidate for that role because it needed someone forensic to oversee it.

His own personal politics? I honestly think he's not playing them here. It's not his style - he's too clinical. Remember, this is Captain Boring we're talking about here, and it's not an unfair label, the man is forensic about what he does, and this *has* to be a badly executed move to try to wean folks off the Tory line but also to try to bring around those who feel politically homeless in the wake of Brexit.

A lot of people are still very firmly anti-immigrant and don't want freedom of movement to return even if we otherwise get back closer to Europe - and he can't ignore that.

Keir Starmer, speaking like a true leaver, rule out closer ties, but claim to "make a better brexit". Give me a break.

I think Labour should get in at the next GE and then Starmer pushed out with a true Remainer put in his place who'll actually have the guts to reverse brexit.

In helpful terms, Starmer has also ruled out the right honourable member for Islington North being a Labour candidate. Which means it doesn’t matter who is fielded for that seat, it ain’t going to be Labour.

So, because Corbyn has been forced to go "independent", you think that the tories might get in? Or that he'll get in as an independent? Sorry, bit confused here.

Nah, Corbyn’s staying in the seat until he retires or dies, whichever first, likely the latter. He’s been voted in by the area something like 10 times in a row, and not because he’s Labour, but because it’s him.

Not likely to be that relevant:

A video about the economics of the EU, for those that follow that stuff.

The main takeaway I observed is it seems because Germany is now the primary EU market, it's ending up creating the same problem as London in the UK, vaguely like the Cheshire cheese company example. Doesn't help that both us and Germany weren't told about EU matters either.

There's a new secret weapon in the country's defences. Forget Polaris missiles. Forget Trident missiles. We have Tory missiles: they cost a lot, but you can't fire them, though a few make a mess when they leak, and ultimately they don't work.

An example of the hemorrhaging of British investment due to brexit. This is death by a thousand cuts and won't stop anytime soon.

I'm catching up on Phil's videos and this one's a cracker. He's emphatically calling out the tories for blatantly lying by making up statistics to support their brexit. Did you know that we've now got £800 billion in new trade deals with 70 countries? No, me neither. So, if we did, how come we're in recession? Were's the quotes for the sources of these stats? There aren't any. Funny that.

This isn't directly related to brexit, but worth putting here.

Phil explains why and how the NHS continues to go downhill and it's really obvious now, especially with those strikes going on.

Critically, the tories are NOT increasing the money given to the NHS, but actually reducing it, because money to private healthcare is simply funnelled through it to private contractors to give the appearance of greater funding. As usual, the tories are scamming the country and causing such a lot of damage, death and suffering in the process. This is intentional in order to create the narrative required to make the great unwashed accept a fully privatised health care system.

I remember Remainers warning about this threat even before the referendum. Removing our rights is one of the fevered dreams of the tories to screw us over. It's their "benefit of brexit" for their party and cronies, no benefit to the country.

Brexit: the elephant in the room. Excellent summary from American news site CNN, of the increasing long term damage that brexit is inflicting and the inaction from the tories and Labour to actually do anything about it.

All I can hope is that if Labour do finally get into power, they then address brexit directly and work to reverse it. I'm not holding my breath though.

I can only assume Labour’s strategy thus far was “here is where we are, we can’t undo it because we’ll leave half the country behind” seemingly without realising that *not* undoing it would also leave half the country behind, at least at the time the vote was taken.

Its not even an entirely stupid strategy, though, because the Remainers had - largely - accepted the situation and were ready to at least give it a go, c.f. “You won, get over it” and it was the Leavers who would not be placated.

But the world has moved since then, one presumes Labour has updated its thinking and they’re just saying “no reversal” because the incumbent party’s voter base says this, and that as soon as there’s a shot of them being in power, that’ll change “according to the increasing evidence”.

Starmer & co making a move right now on Brexit is too early.
